Position Overview
The Open African Innovation Research (Open AIR) network is seeking a Digital Communications Assistant to support our online engagement efforts. This is a great opportunity for a student interested in digital communication, research networks, and content creation. The Assistant will help manage Open AIR’s website, social media platforms, and digital content, while working alongside a global team of researchers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with updating and maintaining the Open AIR website (content creation, editing, and formatting). Archives web-based content and other communication materials.
- Support social media management, including drafting posts and engaging with audiences.
- Help create multimedia content (graphics, videos, and promotional materials).
- Assist in monitoring website and social media analytics to track engagement.
- Provide support for digital communication strategies and outreach initiatives.
- Assists with designing and implementing performance indicators to assess the effectiveness and traffic of Open AIR’s website and social media platforms.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a university program (preferably in communications, media, international development, or a related field).
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Experience with social media platforms, website management, or digital content creation.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe, etc.) is a plus.
- Knowledge of African research or indigenous languages is an asset.
