Akkila is a Juris Doctorate (JD) candidate at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law and a Master’s candidate at the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs, and is currently conducting research for Open AIR’s partner, ABS Canada. She completed her undergraduate degree in 2017 at Carleton University, double majoring in Human Rights and Law with a concentration in Law, Policy and Government. Akkila has extensive experience working for the federal government in Aboriginal Law and reconciliation. Her interests lie in the interplay between international law and domestic law and aspires to pursue a career in international law.
