Dr. Susan Isiko Štrba is a visiting Senior Research Fellow at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Law, where she lectures on intellectual property, co-supervises PhD students and researches intellectual property, trade, and development topics. In addition, Dr. Štrba is a Senior Research Affiliate at the University of Minnesota’s Intellectual Property and Development Program and a tutor at the WIPO Academy. Previously, she has been a visiting lecturer at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, and the Boston University International Campus in Geneva.
Dr. Štrba has extensive policy, legislative, and technical advising experience for the world’s leading international organizations, including the WHO, ILO, UNCTAD, WIPO, and the EU. She has also been an advisor to the African Union, COMESA, several African governments, and various NGOs. Before joining the international arena, she was a practicing lawyer with firms in Nairobi, Kenya, and Kampala, Uganda. She is the author of International Copyright Law and Access to Education in Developing Countries: Exploring Multilateral Legal and Quasi-Legal Solutions and has published numerous journal articles in the field of IP and development. Dr. Štrba is a member of ATRIP and is currently a member of the Executive Council on SIEL.
