Dr. Poku Adusei holds a PhD in Law from McGill University in Montreal, where his thesis critically examined the extent to which countries in sub-Saharan Africa were able to set the agenda for patent regulation of essential medicines. The thesis was published as Patenting of Pharmaceuticals and Development in Sub-Saharan Africa: Laws, Institutions, Practices, and Politics (Springer-Verlag, 2013). Adusei is currently a Law Lecturer at the University of Ghana Legon.

Adusei also holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Ghana, and a Barrister-at-Law (BL) Certificate from the Ghana School of Law.

Adusei joined Open AIR at its inception in 2011, and before that was a member of the Ghana Team for Open AIR’s precursor network, African Copyright and Access to Knowledge (ACA2K), from 2007 to 2011. He has authored numerous articles on copyright in Ghana, and was a researcher and author of the ACA2K Ghana Country Report (ACA2K, 2009), the ACA2K Ghana Executive Policy Brief (ACA2K, 2009), and the Ghana chapter in the ACA2K network’s book Access to Knowledge in Africa: The Role of Copyright (UCT Press, 2010).
