One of the book chapters published this year in Inclusive Trade in Africa: The African Continental Free Trade Area in Comparative Perspective was authored by four Open AIR Steering Committee members from two different hubs. This joint publication was a chapter on the new African Continental Free Trade Area, specifically how intellectual property and innovation could be dealt with in the agreement. This is the culmination of our previous work in the early negotiation phases of the agreement, spearheaded by Caroline Ncube. Being able to be leading advisors on the IP provisions in the agreement is one of our proudest achievements and proof of the need for African-based research in IP discussions.
