Angeline Wairegi is an experienced research scientist and educator currently engaged in AI and Data Governance research in Africa. Angeline has a proven track record in successfully managing and conducting complex research projects, designing educational and training programs for scholars in the scientific field, and effectively instructing large and small size classrooms in institutions of higher learning. Angeline has comprehensive technological and pedagogical knowledge on the best practices for carrying out systematic, comprehensive, and successful research projects, as well as designing educational programs for both online and conventional classrooms, that cater to the educational needs of diverse student populations.
As the Research Director at Athene Research Group, Angeline spearheads efforts to strengthen research capacity within organizations, drawing on her extensive experience in artificial intelligence and data governance. Prior to this role, Angeline served as a Senior Research Fellow at CIPIT’s Artificial Intelligence for Development Policy Center (AI4D) in Nairobi, where she led significant AI research projects and co-directed the Data Governance Research Center. Angeline holds a PhD in Chemistry from Utah State University, an MSc in Food Science from Chapman University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of North Texas.
