Seble Baraki has worked on intellectual property (IP) matters for Ethiopia’s Justice and Legal System Research Institute (JLSRI) since 2011. She also serves as the Legal Lead for Creative Commons Ethiopia (CC Ethiopia) and has worked as a Junior Legal Expert for the Redaee Baraki Law Office in Addis Ababa.
Baraki holds a Bachelor of Law from Addis Ababa University and studied European IP Law at Stockholm University for her LLM.
Baraki joined Open AIR in 2012 as a Research Fellow. During her Fellowship, she researched and wrote a book chapter, “The Perils and Promises of Intellectual Property Rights in African Countries: The Case of Sui Generis Protection in Ethiopia,” for the book Intellectual Property and Development: Perspectives of African Countries (Lagos: NIALS, 2013).
