Wondwossen Belete heads Ethiopia’s Society for Technology Studies (STS), which pursues its mission through science, technology and innovation (STI) policy research, training, policy advocacy, and knowledge dissemination seminars. Belete was previously with the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office (EIPO), serving as the EIPO’s Director of Intellectual Property Policy and Planning from 2004 to 2006, its Director of Trademarks from 2007 to 2010, and its Director of Intellectual Property Protection and Technology Transfer from 2010 to 2011.

Belete holds a BA in Economics from Addis Ababa University and an MSc in Science and Technology Policy from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. He joined Open AIR at its launch in 2011, and researched and authored the case study published in 2014 as Towards University-Industry Innovation Linkages in Ethiopia.
