Georgia Coles is a second year law student at the University of Ottawa. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Global Development Studies from Queen’s University, with a specialization in Gender Studies. Prior to entering law school, Georgia worked as an intern at Uganda For Her, a local women’s rights organization in Kampala, Uganda. She collaborated with local stakeholders to develop programs that educate youth on reproductive health. In her previous role as a research assistant for Professor John Cameron of Dalhousie University, Georgia assessed the effects of federal regulations on registered charities’ political advocacy activities. Further, for the International Women’s Rights Project, Georgia conducted research on how expanding women’s roles in water governance could contribute to gender equality in Central Asia.

She is currently an assistant editor for the Ottawa Law Review and has been selected to continue on as an Associate Editor for the 52nd Volume. Georgia is interested in the ways that technology and intellectual property operate in the development context.
