Assane Faye is a specialist in copyright issues for libraries. He has served on the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) Committee on Copyright and Other Legal Matters, is a founder member of the Library Consortium for Higher Education in Senegal (COBES), and is former Senegal National Coordinator for the eIFL-IP unit of Electronic Information for Libraries (eIFL). He also serves as a library consultant to several professional organisations, has presented on the subject of copyright and libraries at numerous events in Senegal and internationally, and has authored several articles in this field.
Presently Human Resources Manager at Université de Bambey, Faye holds Master’s degrees in both Library and Information Sciences and Human Resource Management. He was the Senegal Lead Researcher for Open AIR’s precursor network, African Copyright and Access to Knowledge (ACA2K), from 2008 to 2011, leading the researching and authoring of the ACA2K Senegal Country Report and Executive Policy Brief. He has been part of Open AIR since its inception in 2011.
