This Open AIR Annual Report sets out the activities and outputs of the network from mid-2024 to mid-2025. During this period, deliverables were determined by three mutually reinforcing projects: Regulation for Innovation Supporting SDGs, Open Opportunities for Globally Inclusive Biomedical Innovation, and Signposting to Future Scenarios. Open AIR also received funding for two new pathbreaking projects: the Canada–Africa Partnership (CAP) on IP for Climate Action and Catalysing AI’s Potential in Africa through IP Innovation. All five projects are outlined in this report, along with sections on: network governance and management; network funding; the New and Emerging Researchers Group (NERG); core activities and outputs in three categories (rapid-response interventions, field-building studies, momentum-catalyst events); and regional highlights from work in North Africa; West and Central Africa; East Africa; Southern Africa; and Canada.
