The African European Maker Innovation Ecosystem (mAkE) Project, of which Open AIR is part, has launched its Open Catalogue of Business Models (OCBM). The OCBM aims to contribute to the financial sustainability of makerspaces and support the creation of a decentralised production ecosystem. mAkE is an EU Horizon 2020-funded initiative, and Open AIR is one of its African consortium members (see listing below). The project, which began in February 2022 and runs until January 2025, is supporting the work of, and interactions between, African and European hardware-focused Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) and makerspaces.
The catalogue, compiled by Anna Sera Lowe, Martin Oloo, and Gertrude Mawuena Goh, is available here on the mAkE website.
The other mAkE consortium members are:
- Africa Makerspace Network (AMN)
- Africa Open Science Hardware (AfricaOSH)
- Association pour la promotion de la science ouverte en Haïti et en Afrique (APSOHA)
- Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI)
- Global Innovation Gathering (GIG)
- GreenTec Capital Africa Foundation (GCAF)
